Berlin (dpa) - The actor Albrecht Schuch (35), along with nine European colleagues, will be honored as a “Shooting Star” this year.

The prize is intended to draw attention to special talents and is considered a springboard for an international career.

This year, the awards will be presented during the summer events of the Berlinale in June, as the European Film Promotion network announced on Tuesday.

Schuch is known for films such as “Berlin Alexanderplatz” and “Systemsprenger” as well as the TV series “Bad Banks”.

The jury praised his “clear will to push himself to the limit and beyond”.

He was nominated for his role in Dominik Graf's new film "Fabian" - based on a novel by Erich Kästner - which is due to come out in April.

Schuch lives in Berlin himself.

Shooting Stars are also honored: Seidi Haarla (Finland), Nicolas Maury (France), Natasa Stork (Hungary), Fionn O'Shea (Ireland), Žygimantė Elena Jakštaitė (Lithuania), Martijn Lakemeier (Netherlands), Sara Klimoska (North Macedonia ), Alba Baptista (Portugal) and Gustav Lindh (Sweden).

Previous German “Shooting Stars” include Daniel Brühl, Anna Maria Mühe, Moritz Bleibtreu and Jella Haase.
