Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - “Hotel Mama” is very popular with 18-year-olds in North Rhine-Westphalia: around 93 percent of them were still living at home with their parents in 2019, as the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday.

Most children's rooms are empty by the age of 25: At this age, only one in three children and one in five daughters lives at home.

Traditionally, the young men tend to be more “nestled” than the young women.

The difference is getting smaller: since 2015, the proportion of young men between 18 and 25 years of age living in their parents' household has decreased from 64.9 percent to 63.5 percent.

In the case of young women, it increased slightly from 52.7 to 52.8 percent over the same period.
