In the last days of 2020 and the first ten days of January 2021, experts noted the stabilization of the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Russia.

This was announced by the chief sanitary doctor of the Russian Federation Anna Popova during a meeting of the presidium of the coordinating council under the government to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

“According to the dynamics of the epidemiological process as a whole in the Russian Federation ... we note the stabilization and decrease in the number of cases and the daily incidence rate from 19.9 to 15.6 per 100 thousand people,” Popova said.

At the same time, she noted that the situation in the regions remains different - from two to 50 detected cases per day per 100 thousand people.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor said that, according to the department, the intensity of the epidemic process in 22 subjects is in the stage of decline, and in 61 regions - in the stage of stabilization.

Growth is noted only in two regions with a small population.

“We are also seeing a 16% decrease in the number of hospitalized people over the past period ... The reproductive rate also decreases during the first decade, it was less than one in 76 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, that is, in a clearly larger territory of our country,” Popova said.

She noted that during the holidays, work was intensified to track persons in contact with COVID-19 patients, thanks to which about 905 thousand people are currently under the supervision of specialists.

In conclusion, the head of Rospotrebnadzor stressed that with strict adherence to the rules of prevention, "new beds should not be required."

In turn, the Minister of Health of Russia Mikhail Murashko stressed that during the New Year holidays, medical services provided assistance to the Russians in full.

According to him, there were no "serious system failures."

“The situation with the incidence of coronavirus infection was completely under control.

The number of beds was sufficient, medical services discharged patients from the hospital on time, so there was no shortage in any region with beds.

Today, 23% of our beds are free at the hospital stage, ”he said.

The head of the Ministry of Health said that about 215 thousand patients are currently being treated in Russian hospitals, and about 870 thousand people receive outpatient care.
