In Troyes, two teachers supervise a group of eco-delegates mobilized in favor of sustainable development -

Five years after the Paris agreements, major international decision-makers unfortunately still seem reluctant to fully engage in the battle for the climate.

Fortunately, the following generations have decided not to wait for them any longer and are starting now, on the ground, in favor of a greener and more just world.

Just like the twenty eco-delegates from the Pierre and François Pithou college in Troyes, whose sustainable actions were financed thanks to the participatory platform, the Project Kit.

At the origin of this operation two passionate teachers - supported by their head of establishment - eager to involve college students in the challenges of tomorrow through concrete actions.

“The official texts require the election of at least one pair of eco-delegates per establishment.

We wanted a more ambitious project for our college: to train a nucleus of motivated and voluntary students so that they become relays and ambassadors of sustainable development to the entire college community ”explains Thomas Schneider, teacher of life sciences and Earth (SVT).

Integrate everything

Selected following a call for applications organized by the two supervising teachers, the eco-delegates begin their one-year mandate with a day of integration and training.

Then comes the time for action.

Visits to a bulk grocery store, manufacture of "zero waste" household products or even creations and maintenance of plantations in the college, the agenda of eco-delegates is full.

The group functions like a beehive which is organized in its establishment to better spread outside.

“We try to tackle sustainable development in all its dimensions.

In addition to environmental issues, our eco-delegates also work on social actions such as the collection of Christmas toys for the benefit of the Red Cross or the organization of an eco-citizen film festival ”specifies Aurélie Duran, teacher of 'English.

An inclusive logic that the gang - organized in the form of a junior association - applies to itself since it aims for total free access for its activities, so as not to exclude any good will.

Highlight the initiatives

To meet this challenge, the two referent professors turned to the crowdfunding platform “Project Kit”.

Well relayed by fun photos and videos, the 2019-2020 campaign of eco-delegates raised nearly 1,200 euros from 45 donors.

A sum intended in particular to finance equipment favorable to biodiversity within the college (beehive, henhouse, etc.) as well as a trip into nature.

In exchange for their donations, the patrons received eco-rewards such as "zero waste" receipts (lip balm, disinfectant, etc.) or recycled plastic badges machined within the college.

Beyond the simple financial aspect, this campaign has made it possible to shed more light on the group's initiatives and to generate vocations for future promotions.

“In a changing environment, there is no greater risk than standing still” announce the eco-delegates on their “Project Kit” page.

Failing to be heard by international decision-makers, the message seems to have passed to their comrades and their parents.
