The CEO of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Complex, Hussain Al Mahmoudi, announced the completion of the experimental stages of three suspended trains lines dedicated to passengers and land freight, to transport users and containers from various regions of the emirate and its ports to other regions in the month of March.

He told «Emirates Today» that this project is supervised by a global company specialized in applied scientific research for smart transportation at the regional level, pointing out that all its experimental stages in the complex will be completed before the end of 2021, and it will be implemented soon in the streets of the emirate, and after that it is possible Disseminating the idea and marketing it at the state and global level.

And he indicated that this project is considered the first of its kind in the region, being environmentally friendly, pointing to its future benefits, which include preserving the infrastructure and not worn out, and contributing to the disappearance of traffic jams caused by trucks on external roads gradually in the future, in addition to that it will end The problem of container overcrowding in ports and free zones.

He pointed out that the containers would be suspended by dedicated lines that were made of wires and materials specifically for this purpose, linked to terminals that will be located in the designated areas for transporting containers in the future.

Al Mahmoudi explained that the complex is currently overseeing the construction of the suspended air trains project at the sites designated for it in the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Complex, as the installation of three cable car lines has been completed, the first with a length of 400 meters between two different stations in the complex, and the second and the third with a length of three kilometers each of them. In the area surrounding the University City in Sharjah.

He pointed out that these three lines were designated for the first of them for freight, and the second and third for the transportation of passengers with modern sizes and qualities, pointing out that everyone in the community will be able to try and ride these trains after the end of March, indicating that the company that is based on this project has provided passengers with the ability to control At train speeds of up to 500 kilometers per hour, and determine their destination.

He pointed out that smart and environmentally friendly stations have been allocated to trains to facilitate the process of riding in them, and it is considered the first of its kind in the region, as it is made of wood, and recycled materials have been used in its modern designs, in line with current and future requirements to ensure its durability.

He added that the three lines have undergone multiple testing processes, and the suspended carriages in them have started to operate for short and long distances, and now they are being completed before the end of March, to be the first practical application of this type of modern mobility at the regional level in Sharjah, after which the project idea and marketing will be circulated according to a plan Regions need it.

He emphasized that all projects incubated and supervised by the complex are being implemented with the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, with the aim of transferring and localizing knowledge from Sharjah to the world, and providing a safe and reliable means of transmission for future generations.
