Sonneberg (dpa / th) - The Corona citizen phone in the Sonneberg district office is running hot because of many calls from those willing to vaccinate - although no appointments are made via it.

A spokesman for the district office announced on Monday that a higher double-digit number of people report daily with the request for vaccination appointments or questions about appointments.

In Thuringia, however, the district and city administrations are not responsible for making appointments, but rather the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV), which also manages vaccinations and has set up around 30 vaccination centers nationwide.

Vaccination appointments in Thuringia are only given under the number 03643/49 50 490 or online via the website www.impfen-thueringen.de.

How many appointments can be booked there depends on the amount of vaccine available.

On Monday noon, all appointments were fully booked, as the KV announced on the website.

Those wishing to vaccinate were asked to try again Tuesday lunchtime.

The first 14 vaccination centers are to go into operation in Thuringia on Wednesday, including one in Sonneberg.

Another 15 are to open gradually from February 3rd.
