Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - After an apartment fire in an apartment building in Magdeburg, the police are investigating a 31-year-old man for arson.
A police spokeswoman in Magdeburg announced on Monday that the man tried to flee on Sunday evening, but was temporarily arrested.
The fire brigade reported on the presumably deliberate fire on Sunday.
Four people had to be treated with smoke poisoning in the hospital.
Residents and passers-by noticed the fire on Sunday evening. "In several rooms there were sources of fire - among other things, pillows and clothes burned," said a spokeswoman. When trying to extinguish the fire, four neighbors and passers-by were injured by inhaling smoke gases. The tenant of the apartment was not at home at the time.
