Düsseldorf (AP) - The Eisbären Berlin are still waiting for the first away win in the current season of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

On Monday evening the capital city lost 4: 5 (3: 1, 0: 0, 1: 3, 0: 1) to the Düsseldorfer EG after extra time.

Goals from Kris Foucault, Pierre-Cédric Labrie, Marcel Noebels and Mark Zengerle were not enough for the Berliners to succeed because they gave up the game after a strong early phase.

Jerome Flaake, Nicholas Jensen, Maximilian Kammerer, Ken Andre Olimb and again Kammerer met in extra time for Düsseldorf.

The Berliners now have eleven points, DEG follows with ten points.

In front of empty stands, the polar bears started very focused: They hardly made any mistakes in defense, and they were efficient offensively.

Foucault scored in the first power play, Labrie and Noebels with another overpaid goal extended the lead.

Shortly before the first break, Flaake shortened for the hosts.

After the restart, the guests let the Düsseldorf team come into play better and better.

Goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger was able to prevent the subsequent goal for a long time, but Nicholas Jensen met in the power play in the final section.

Zengerle answered for the polar bears, but the Düsseldorfer Kammerer and Ken Andre Olimb ensured the equalizer in the turbulent final phase.

In extra time, Kammerer decided the game in favor of the hosts with his second goal.
