While the government hopes to be able to leave schools open as long as possible, despite the threat of the British variant of Covid-19, it is wondering about the device to be put in place.

The return to 100% face-to-face is no longer envisaged on January 20, but the baccalaureate exams scheduled for mid-March are maintained.

At least for now.

If Olivier Véran announced Sunday on Europe 1 that the government could take new restrictive measures in the event of a new outbreak of Covid-19 contamination, he has, for the moment, ruled out closing schools and extending the February holidays.

A few months from the deadline, the bac is for the moment maintained, as indicated by Jean-Michel Blanquer.

On the other hand, the chances of quickly returning to 100% face-to-face are more than slim.

The limited gauge probably extended

A normal recovery on January 20 as envisaged by Emmanuel Macron at the end of November seems indeed now impossible.

The Minister of Education indicated that the gauge imposed in high schools would surely be extended.

"We will fight especially to stay open as long as possible," says one of Jean-Michel Blanquer's relatives.

The March tests maintained subject to changes in health

In this climate of generalized uncertainty, a decision will have to be taken for the baccalaureate exams scheduled for mid-March.

They are maintained at this stage, but subject to changes in health.

In reality, the Minister waits as long as possible to make the decision that is most in line with the health situation.

But he is not deaf to the concerns of the principals nor to those of the parents of students.

He will therefore communicate next week to say whether or not the specialty tests are kept as they are or potentially transformed into continuous testing or even moved to June.

In parallel, Jean-Michel Blanquer gathered at the end of last week all the executives of the national education, asking them to accelerate on the tests.

At this stage, only 10,000 have been completed, while a million are now available, pending the vaccination which will take place for teachers in April, according to what was communicated to the unions.
