It was on Thursday that 56 of the 60 people living in the special accommodation received their first dose of the corona vaccine.

Two days later, it was established that one of the residents was ill with covid-19.

Now several others at the accommodation have also fallen ill.

- It feels really boring.

We thought we would be able to do this now that the vaccine is so close.

This is the first time we get infected at the accommodation.

The margin was simply not on our side, says Anna Sandström.

Relatives informed

How many people have fallen ill, the accommodation does not want to go out with, but they have informed relatives about the situation that has arisen.

So far, only one ward, with 16 residents, has received positive test results for covid-19 and to avoid further spread of infection, the entire ward has been isolated.

- We do everything we can to prevent it from spreading more.

We have separate cleaning routines, food routines and make sure that the staff does not cross departments.

Fortunately, no one has become seriously ill yet, says Anna Sandström.

To create security among the residents and relieve the employees, extra staff has also been appointed.

The accommodation has also been in contact with Smittskydd Västra Götaland, which helps with infection tracing and continued sampling of staff and residents.

- What we have learned is that there should have been no infection during the vaccination, says Anna Sandström.
