  • A few days before the facts, his dog had been confiscated, an American staffordshire that he was walking without a lead or a muzzle in Rodez.

The accused held Pascal Filoé responsible for the situation.

  • He faces life imprisonment.

Thursday 27 September 2018, 10.30 am.

Alexandre Dainotti is installed in a brewery, very close to the town hall of Rodez.

He swallows two coffees, pays the bill and leaves.

In the rue Camille-Douls, he pounces on Pascal Filoé, the deputy director general of the services of the city, in charge in particular of the security questions.

In police custody, Dainotti admits having stabbed the victim twice in the back, who was leaving the town hall to go to a meeting.

Then he unleashes on Pascal Filoé, who turned around, and hits him in the arms, abdomen and lower abdomen.

Transported in absolute emergency to Rodez hospital, this father of three children died a few hours later.

The suspect is quickly arrested by the police, without opposing resistance, in a store where he had taken refuge.

Two years later, Alexandre Dainotti, 41, is tried from this Monday by the Assize Court of Aveyron.

He faces life imprisonment.

How to explain such an outburst of violence?

In front of the police, he admitted to having acted out of "revenge", after having seen his dog withdrawn a few days earlier to be entrusted to the SPA.

The day before the events, he went to buy a knife to attack Pascal Filoé, whom he held responsible for this situation.

Dangerous dog

Since arriving in Rodez in the fall of 2017, Dainotti has drawn the attention of municipal services to him.

This Frenchman, born in Mouscron (Belgium) in 1979, walked through the streets of the city in the company of “Poutine”, an American staffordshire.

It is a category 2 dog. However, "he did not put a leash on the dog or a muzzle", explained, after the tragedy, the mayor (LREM) of the city, Christian Teyssèdre.

In addition, he was not authorized to own a dog of a breed considered dangerous because he had a criminal record.

The director of the municipal police, Pascal Filoé, therefore wrote to him several times to call him to order, and went to meet him.

But Dainotti, who is presented as an outsider, doesn't care.

He doesn't like these letters, and they even tend to increase tensions.

He even becomes aggressive towards municipal officers.

A few months before the events, on April 11, 2018, he attacked the glass door of the town hall.

The municipality then files a complaint against him.

Another day, he ran into the mayor, Christian Teyssèdre, in town, accompanied by Pascal Filoé.

He utters death threats against the two men, who immediately warn the national police.

A few days later, on September 19, 2018, the national police checked the accused and his dog was confiscated.

A separation that he would not have supported.

" Bitterness "

He then begins to feel "resentment" towards Pascal Filoé, explained at the time Cherif Chabb, the deputy prosecutor of the Republic of Rodez.

The death of the Deputy Director General of Rodez's services had moved up to the highest summit of the State and the Prime Minister himself had made the trip to pay tribute to him on October 4, 2018. “We owe you justice, this death is incomprehensible, unjustifiable, inexcusable ”, assured Édouard Philippe, to the family of the victim.

The accused was defended, until last December, by Me Isabelle Gharbi-Terrin.

Specialist in animal causes, this Marseille lawyer told the press in April 2019, that it was according to her a "crime of passion".

“He only killed because his dog was taken from him.

It's the only motive, ”she said on France Bleu.

“He was an outsider.

He was with his dog 24 hours a day, it was his only subject of love.

He experienced it as if his child had been taken from him.
