Verden (dpa / lni) - With an overdose of morphine, a woman in Loccum in the Nienburg district is said to have tried to kill her husband almost a year ago - now the 42-year-old comes to court.

The trial of attempted murder against the woman begins today in the Verden District Court.

The court initially gave no information about the background to the offense.

The woman is said to have given her diabetic husband the morphine in his breakfast. According to the public prosecutor's office, she is said to have called the ambulance service only in the evening when she assumed that her husband could no longer be helped. The woman is said to have told the helpers that her husband wanted to kill himself and did not want any rescue. Without the intervention of a doctor, the prosecutor believes that the man would have died. The court has summoned numerous witnesses and experts for the trial and set appointments until mid-April.
