A Democrat has revealed when outgoing President Donald Trump will be held accountable to Congress.

While a Republican senator said that the president should resign, the Pope urged Americans to renounce violence days after the deaths in the storming of Congress.

Democratic Representative Webb James said on Sunday that President Donald Trump's impeachment provisions could be brought to the House of Representatives on Tuesday or Wednesday.

He added - in an interview with "CNN" - "I think it will be drafted tomorrow (Monday) ... it may be on Tuesday or Wednesday before it is actually presented (to the council), but I think it will be presented this week."

Earlier, CNN quoted a source close to Vice President Mike Pence as saying that he did not rule out moving toward activating Amendment 25 of the Constitution to isolate Trump, and that he might resort to him if the president became reckless.

The source indicated that there is some concern on the Vice President’s team about the risks that may arise from resorting to this option, or even heading towards Trump’s trial in Congress, due to the possibility that the president may take reckless measures that endanger the country.

The Washington Post reported that lawyers who defended Trump in the first trial will not represent him this time, including his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.

The journalist indicated that Trump did not show those around him any interest in the killing of 5 people during the storming of Congress, and did not ask for the flag to be flown over the White House after the killing of a policeman in those events.

It reported that President Trump and his advisor, Jared Kushner, are calling their lawmakers' allies to urge them to prevent the president from being tried in Congress, and that Kushner is asking those with whom he communicates to issue statements against the trial and publish them on social media.

Reuters revealed a document circulating among members of the US Congress regarding an expected trial in the House of Representatives for President Donald Trump.

The agency said that the document - which aims to implement the procedures for impeaching the president - was drafted by Democratic lawmakers, and includes an accusation that Trump intentionally made statements that incite violence against the United States government, in an attempt to reverse the election result.

The best option

For his part, urged Republican Senator Pat Tommy Trump to resign after his supporters stormed the US Congress (Capitol) in violent incidents that left dead people.

He added - in an interview with NBC television network (NBC) - "I think the best course for our country is for the president to resign and leave as soon as possible ... I admit that this may be unlikely, but I think it will be the best option."

Tommy also repeated the same call in a separate interview with CNN.

The former director of the US Cybersecurity Agency, Chris Krebs, also said that the best way to avoid further violence in the country is the resignation of President Donald Trump.

And he stressed in an interview with the American "CBS" network that Trump should leave power.

A call for calm

In the same context, the Pope of the Vatican urged Americans on Sunday to renounce violence and seek reconciliation and "protect democratic values" after an attack by President Donald Trump's supporters on the US Congress building, killing 5 people.

"I repeat that violence is always self-destructing," Pope Francis said.

This is the second time the Pope has spoken in a matter of days about violence in Washington, DC.

"I appeal to the country's authorities and the entire population to show a high sense of responsibility in order to calm things down, promote national reconciliation, and protect the democratic values rooted in American society," the Pope added.

Francis said he wanted to send a "cordial greeting" to all Americans, saying that the country was "shaken by the recent attack on Congress."

It is noteworthy that the US authorities indicted dozens of charges following the storming of the Congress building on Wednesday, and the FBI asked citizens to help identify the participants in the attack, given the spread of images of riots on the Internet.
