Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - At the end of the Christmas holidays, travelers returning to Bavaria are particularly checked these days.

The airports are a focal point.

If possible, all those entering the country should be subjected to an infection control check.

Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) wants to give insights into the process today at Nuremberg Airport.

According to the ministry, he wants to inform about the increased controls during his visit and present the offer for corona tests.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, such tests are also offered at the airports in Munich and Memmingen.

In this context, Herrmann called on those returning to travel to be tested, preferably up to 48 hours before entering Germany.

At the same time he warned: "Anyone who violates the corona protective measures must expect severe fines."
