Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Almost half a year before the state elections, the Greens in Saxony-Anhalt want to set the priorities of their election campaign.

Top candidate Cornelia Lüddemann, party leader Sebastian Striegel and Environment Minister Claudia Dalbert want to present the main features of their draft for the election program at an online press conference on Monday.

On Tuesday, the draft will then be presented to the members and the public at an online event with federal party leader Annalena Baerbock.

"We are writing the program at a time when two major crises are fundamentally changing our lives: the corona pandemic and the climate crisis," said top candidate Lüddemann.

"Both crises are man-made and the result of people overexploiting our natural resources, regardless of the flora and fauna."

The aim of the Greens is to enter the next state government strengthened.

"A government against climate protection and with the participation of anti-democrats must not be formed," said Lüddemann.

The ruling party wants to make Saxony-Anhalt climate-neutral by 2035, make the work of the authorities more transparent and promote innovations such as green hydrogen.

"We want that in Saxony-Anhalt with green ideas are written in the black," said the parliamentary group leader and top candidate.

After the presentation of the program on Tuesday, the draft of the party leadership will then be discussed at several discussion events with members and experts.

The program should then be decided at a party conference in April.
