Several municipalities in the Sierra de Madrid

have run out of brine stocks since yesterday Saturday and have asked the Community of Madrid for help

.

The regional government has decided to respond to the requests of some of the municipalities that have run out of provisions.

This measure has been possible thanks to the fact that the Community of Madrid bought this week in Cádiz an extra 100 tons of brine or liquid salt to face the storm.

Several municipalities are coming this afternoon to stockpile the salt for the next few days in which temperatures of 10 degrees below zero are expected.

The Community of Madrid recalls that the town councils of the region should have made a stockpile of salt for the winter.

At the beginning of January they were reminded that an extreme storm was coming and that they had enough remittances to deal with the storm.

However, several municipalities in the Sierra have run out of salt

and they have transferred this problem to the Community, which immediately enabled the Colmenar Viejo canton for distribution.

There are municipalities in the Sierra like Colmenarejo that are suffering these days the theft of salt.

Neighbors from other towns come to

remove the salt from the deposits that the City Council

distributes to various parts of the city during the winter.

Some companies that are dedicated to the distribution of salt have assured that they no longer have stocks since this Friday and that they were waiting.

Even the

Madrid

City Council

has had to urgently request several trucks of salt from an Asturian company

to be able to have enough stored to face the cold front of these coming days.
