Two months after a first hospitalization in Germany due to Covid-19, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, 75, is again hospitalized there for post-Covid complications in the foot, announced on Sunday January 10, the presidency.
The president left the Boufarik military base, near Algiers, where he was greeted by senior state officials before flying to Berlin, Algerian national television said.
The head of state had returned, less than two weeks ago, to Algeria, apparently in good health.
He then spoke briefly to wish "a happy new year to all Algerians", "much better than 2020".

As of October 24, the president, a heavy smoker, had voluntarily placed himself in isolation after having been in contact with officials contaminated by Covid-19.
He was then admitted for two months, on October 28, in "one of the largest specialized establishments" in Germany after contracting the virus.
His prolonged absence had fueled rumors and disinformation in Algeria.
