The UAE provides urgent humanitarian aid to those affected by the floods that swept the state of Bahang in Malaysia, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's representative in the Al Dhafra region, President of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority.

The aid includes large quantities of shelter, food and health supplies, in the first phase of the aid program, which is implemented by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, and more than 50,000 affected people benefit from it.

The authority has completed its preparations to implement the leadership directives and provide assistance as quickly as required by the conditions of those affected by the floods, while a delegation from the authority arrived to supervise relief operations and deliver humanitarian needs to the most affected areas, in coordination and cooperation with the state government of Bhang and the competent Malaysian authorities.

The Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Dr. Muhammad Ateeq Al Falahi, affirmed that the leadership is always keen to enhance the UAE's humanitarian and development role regionally and globally, and to provide assistance to the needy and those affected by various disasters.

He said that the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, led by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is always ready to quickly intervene in such crises and emergency disasters, indicating that His Highness’s continuous directives to strengthen the authority’s capabilities in the areas of relief and emergency response have qualified the authority to occupy advanced positions between Associations and organizations providing humanitarian and development aid.

Al-Falahi explained that «the UAE aid program to Malaysia is being prepared, based on field reports and humanitarian appeals from there, and takes into account urgent needs at the current stage.

He pointed out that the program includes several stages, based on the developments of the humanitarian situation in the field, ”adding that“ the first phase will focus on shelter, food and health requirements, and then other stages will follow that includes other needs of various kinds. ”

The Secretary General of the Red Crescent affirmed that the authority is constantly aware of the humanitarian situation in Malaysia, and is working in coordination with the competent authorities there, to provide the best services to those affected and alleviate their human suffering, and it will be close to it until their ordeal is cleared.

The torrential rains that fell, recently, in Malaysia, caused torrential floods, affecting 11 provinces in the state of Bhang, including the state capital, Luantan.

The "Red Crescent" is coordinating with the competent authorities in Malaysia to provide the best services to those affected.
