Adelboden (dpa) - Ski racer Alexander Schmid was clearly left behind in Adelboden's second giant slalom.

The Allgäu was only 22nd on the difficult slope in Switzerland and was 3.75 seconds behind the winner Alexis Pinturault.

The Frenchman relegated Filip Zubcic (+1.26) and Loic Meillard from Switzerland (+1.65) to the other podium positions 24 hours after his first victory of the weekend in Adelboden.

Schmid, who had finished 21st the day before on the Chuenisbärgli, which he did not love, impressed with the eleventh fastest time in the first run;

but in the final he fell back.

Stefan Luitz was missing injured.

The race in the Bernese Oberland was overshadowed by the serious fall of American Tommy Ford, who fell shortly before the finish line in the first run, remained motionless for a long time and was then flown to a hospital by rescue helicopter.

As the US association announced, Ford was at least conscious.
