The French handball players snatched the draw against Serbia 26 to 26, in qualifying for Euro-2022, Saturday in Créteil, four days after a setback in Serbia and five days before their entry into contention at the World-2021.

The players of Guillaume Gille, who officiated this week for his first two matches as coach of the France team, lost Tuesday night in Zrenjanin in Serbia (27-24).

They raced behind in scoring for most of the game on Saturday.

However, they missed the match point on the last possession two seconds from the end, on a shot from Timothey N'Guessan.

To qualify for the 2022 European Championship, they will have to take one of the top two places in their group, which includes Serbia, Belgium and Greece, or finish in the top four third of the eight qualifying groups.

The Blues will fly to Egypt for the World Championship (January 13-31) early next week, and face Norway for their first match in five days.
