Halberstadt (dpa / sa) - The subject of “On the Go” is the focus of this year's Gleimhaus Literature Prize.

Schoolchildren are called upon to take part in the competition established in the Harz district until February 17, according to the website of the city of Halberstadt, where the Gleimhaus Museum is located.

The literary prize is intended to commemorate the poet Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Gleim (1719-1803), who worked in Halberstadt during the Enlightenment and who also died there.

In 1862 his collections were made accessible to the public in his former home.

According to the museum, it is today the largest preserved literary estate of the 18th century at the historical location in the original collection concept.

The so-called friendship temple Gleims is considered one of the largest portrait galleries of the German Enlightenment.

The literary form for participation in the competition is open, it said.

Pupils from the 5th grade could write poems or stories and express, for example, where they are going and what feelings and desires they are accompanied by.

The prices are said to be awarded on March 20 in the Gleimhaus.
