Leer / Emden - On Autobahn 31 near Emden, two people were seriously injured and four were slightly injured, including a toddler.

Four vehicles were involved in the failed overtaking maneuver on Friday afternoon, as the police station in Leer / Emden announced in the evening.

First of all, according to previous knowledge, a woman driver had overlooked an overtaking car when she pulled into the overtaking lane herself.

A collision occurred shortly after the Riepe junction.

When the overtaking car pulled in again, another car took the overtaking lane to avoid a collision.

There, however, another car approached at high speed and could no longer brake in time.

A toddler and a man who had to be rescued by the fire brigade were each flown to accident hospitals with a rescue helicopter. Four other people involved in the accident were injured more easily. All vehicles were no longer ready to drive and had to be towed away. The highway was closed until shortly after 6 p.m.
