Rostock (dpa / mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 243 new corona infections were reported on Saturday.

This was announced by the State Office for Health and Social Affairs in Rostock.

400 new infections were reported on Friday, 94 on Saturday a week ago. Four more people died in connection with a corona infection - there are now 239 in total in the northeast.

The total number of proven corona infections is now 14,649. 10,955 people are considered to have recovered.

The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days (seven-day incidence) rose significantly to 133.1 since the previous day.

On Saturday a week ago, this value was still 90.7, according to Lagus.

However, the figures cannot be easily interpreted because there were fewer tests and, in some cases, delayed reports over Christmas and the turn of the year.

The district of Mecklenburg Lake District has the highest incidence value of 256.5 and is considered a corona hotspot.

The city of Rostock has the lowest value with 43.0.
