Oldenburg (dpa / lni) - Lower Saxony's disability officer Petra Wontorra has spoken out in favor of an earlier corona vaccination of caring relatives.

"I strongly advocate that family carers and carers be given priority vaccination together with the vulnerable group," she told the Oldenburger "Nordwest-Zeitung" (Friday).

"Because if the caregivers are absent, then there is no one who takes care of those who need to be cared for."

Since March, many families have looked after their particularly vulnerable relatives at home, which leads to precautionary isolation and stress for entire families.

Many people who live at home with assistance, caring relatives or with care support are concerned that care could no longer be ensured if caregivers fall ill, Wontorra said.

She therefore sees great need for improvement in the prioritization of vaccinations "of certain vulnerable groups and in access to public information: news, television appearances or press conferences must include sign language, audio description, subtitling and information in plain language".

Wontorra criticized that day-care centers were excluded from the funds of the digital pact for schools.

"There must be no unequal treatment," she emphasized.

"I expect that our protests will be heard and that regulations will be created for the day-care centers so that they too can benefit from the digital pact."
