Hamed Esmaeilion's life came to an end on January 8, 2020, when two Iranian missiles shot down the plane bringing back to Canada, via Ukraine, his wife, Parisa, and his daughter, Reera, 9.

Since then, he has campaigned for truth and justice from the Iranian government on the circumstances of the Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737 crash.

A commitment that has earned him dozens of threatening messages such as: "You are a traitor to the fatherland", or "your name is on the blacklist now".

"I'm not afraid," he tells France 24. I have nothing to lose. I have lost everything. They have to pay for what they have done.

After denying it, Iran admitted a "human error" at the origin of the crash, and offered compensation to the families of the victims.

Insufficient for Canada.

"My report includes 21 big questions," says Ralph Goodale, special advisor to the Canadian government on the crash. "If they want to strengthen their credibility in the international community, bring some comfort to families and convince the world that they can manage safe airspace, then they have to answer those questions. "
