Approximately 20 people each are admitted to the intensive care units in Lund and Malmö.

This still means that there is very high pressure, says Wilhelm Wallquist.

- We have already done everything that can be done in a crisis situation.

We would end up in a very difficult situation if many, if many need more, need our care at the same time.

Effects of Christmas and New Year

It has been two weeks since the Christmas weekend and now you can start to see the effects of the celebration, says Wallquist.

- This means more infected and still many patients with us.

On Friday, there were three vacancies at iva, but they are expected to be filled again soon.

- Now we have prepared for additional places for the weekend and next week.

"High pressure another month"

The number of sick patients with covid-19 in other care has decreased slightly

- We have seen that it has gone down a bit before but then it has gone up again since.

We expect this high pressure for another month.

Next week, they will enter into the crisis agreement, which means that many will work at least 48 hours a week and be able to be available at all times as long as they have had nine hours of rest from the previous shift.

- Hopefully this means that we will be able to have flexibility in increased patient flows, says Wilhelm Wallquist, chief physician at the intensive care unit in Lund.
