On September 16, the Polish prosecutor's office demanded the arrest of three air traffic controllers who worked at the Smolensk-Severny airfield on the day of the crash of Tu-154 Kaczynski.

Russia harshly condemned this decision, the Foreign Ministry ruled out the possibility of extraditing Russian air traffic controllers to Poland.

Kaczynski's plane crashed in 2010 while landing at Smolensk-Severny airport, killing 96 members of the Polish delegation.
