Munich (dpa) - The Munich public prosecutor's office is demanding a prison sentence of five years and six months for doping doctor Mark S.

Chief Public Prosecutor Kai Gräber made this application on Friday in his closing argument before the Regional Court of Munich II. In the process it was proven that the doctor had carried out and organized blood doping for several winter athletes and cyclists for years.

Contrary to his own assertions, Mark S. wanted to earn money with doping, which is why it was also operated commercially.

In addition, he was to be punished for dangerous bodily harm for injecting a research chemical into an athlete in 2017.

With that he had "completely trashed the medical oath," said Gräber.

Therefore, he should also receive a five-year professional ban.

For the most important helper, Dirk Q., the public prosecutor applied for a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence - but due to the almost two-year pre-trial detention, the helper no longer has to return to prison.

For the other accomplices, probation sentences were requested: two years with the nurse Diana S., one and a half years with the paramedic Sven M. and one year with Ansgard S., the father of the main accused doctor.
