Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - There is a corona case in the Saarland state parliament: A member of the parliament had a Covid 19 infection, said state parliament president Stephan Toscani (CDU) on Friday at the beginning of a special session in Saarbrücken.

Since the person concerned had attended a meeting of the health committee on Wednesday, the members of the committee stayed away from the state parliament meeting on Friday.

It was not disclosed which MPs they were.

At the session of the state parliament on Friday, the MPs all wore FFP2 masks, which were handed out at the entrances.

The special meeting was convened to discuss the further measures to contain the corona pandemic, which have already been decided.

According to a new ordinance that comes into force on January 11th, the Saarlanders have to be prepared for massive restrictions until the end of January. The lockdown that has existed since mid-December will be extended and in some cases even tightened.
