Kronburg (dpa / lby) - Ten months after the fire in a farm museum in the Swabian town of Kronburg, the district court has issued a penalty order against a volunteer firefighter.

As a court spokesman said on Friday, the 34-year-old is mainly responsible for a traditional bonfire of the fire department near the museum.

According to the Memmingen public prosecutor's office, flying sparks caused by the fire in strong winds triggered the museum fire.

First, the "Allgäuer Zeitung" reported.

The fire in March 2020 caused damage of around 750,000 euros.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the 34-year-old should have made sure that the fire was under supervision, which did not happen.

In addition, in strong winds he should have had the spark fire extinguished.

If the penalty order becomes final, the firefighter would have to pay a fine.

According to the Memmingen district court, the 34-year-old has lodged an objection and asked to inspect the files.

Should he not accept the penalty order, the opening of a main hearing is possible.
