Munich (dpa) - Bavaria is to receive almost 167,000 vaccine doses of the second corona vaccine approved in the EU by the end of February.

This emerges from a list that lists the distribution of the vaccine from the US manufacturer Moderna in Germany.

Meanwhile, the Free State received around 112,000 more vaccine doses on Friday from the German company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer.

The EU Commission approved the Moderna vaccine on Wednesday.

This vaccine will also be available in Bavaria from next week.

The federal states should receive the first delivery of the preparation on Tuesday, as a spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Health said in Berlin.

Bavaria is initially entitled to 9,600 cans from this delivery.

Another three deliveries of larger quantities from Moderna are planned for the next six weeks.

According to the Bavarian Ministry of Health, Bavaria has received around 316,000 doses of the Biontech / Pfizer preparation since the end of December.

By Friday, almost 93,000 people had been vaccinated with it.
