January 08, 2021 52 of the 55 Hong Kong opponents and activists arrested in recent days have been released under bail and without charge.

The local police made it known.

None of them have been charged, but 3 of the 55 have been denied their freedom: they are activists Johua Wong, the best-known face of the protests in the former British colony, and Tam Tak-chi, both of whom are serving sentences in prison. and former Democratic Party leader Wu Chi-wai, who did not surrender his passport after being released on bail in a different proceeding.

According to sources to the local broadcaster Rthk, the deposit amounts to 30,000 Hong Kong dollars (equal to just over 3,000 euros), but everyone will also have to hand over their passports.

The police also said that those released will have to report to the police station at the beginning of February, all except former MP Au Nok-hin, who has to do so already this month.
