The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received a phone call from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, during which he expressed his congratulations on the occasion of the Gulf reconciliation, which took place at the 41st GCC summit in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia.

Johnson praised the results of the Al-Ula summit and the resulting decisions aimed at Gulf solidarity and the strengthening of security and stability in the region.

For his part, Sheikh Tamim expressed his congratulations to Johnson on the success of Britain's exit from the European Union (Brexit).

Last Tuesday, Saudi Arabia hosted the Gulf summit chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The outcomes of the summit confirmed the end of the Gulf crisis that began in June 2017, and led to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt severing their political and diplomatic relations, and closing the borders and airspace with Qatar.

The Al-Ula summit also stressed that no state’s sovereignty be violated or its security targeted.

It is noteworthy that, prior to the summit, Kuwait announced the opening of the airspace and the land and sea borders between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
