Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Despite stricter corona rules, the police did not count more violations in Hamburg on Friday than on other days.

"We have not found more violations than usual," said police spokeswoman Sandra Levgrün on Friday on dpa request.

The police officers who are on the way also checked the new rules as part of their everyday life.

From time to time there are focus assignments in different areas, such as in local public transport or in retail.

There are no more officers than usual.

Whether people are complying with the new contact rules in their apartments is not checked.

"We didn't do that during the holidays and we're not doing that now," said Levgrün.

Only if there are suspected cases or if the police are called will apartments also be checked to see whether too many people are meeting in one place.

"We hope that people will take responsibility," said the spokeswoman.

Hamburg was the first federal state to put a stricter corona regulation into force on Friday.

Accordingly, the Hamburgers have to restrict their contacts further.

Members of one household are only allowed to meet one person in another household.

So far, contacts have been limited to five people from a maximum of two households.

Unlike before, there are no longer any exceptions for children.

In neighboring Lower Saxony, the contact restriction to two people should only apply from Sunday, in Schleswig-Holstein from Monday.
