U.S. Education Minister Betsy Devos on Thursday became the second member of Donald Trump's cabinet to announce her resignation, after the president's supporters assault the Capitol.

"It is undeniable that your rhetoric has had an impact on the situation, and it is a tipping point for me", accuses the minister in a letter addressed to Donald Trump, of which several American media have obtained a copy.

"Our country has experienced a traumatic event, completely preventable"

Betsy DeVos, billionaire and very controversial minister, had been in office since the start of Donald Trump's mandate.

A few hours earlier, the Minister of Transport Elaine Chao had also announced her resignation, mentioning her "concern" at the invasion of the US Congress on Wednesday.

"Our country has experienced a traumatic event, totally avoidable (...) which has disturbed me so much that I can not ignore it", justified in a statement the one who also the wife of the leader of the Republican senators Mitch McConnell .
