Berlin (dpa) - After the reorganization of the SPD, the Jusos see themselves less than before in the role of critics of the party leadership.

Recently, they have often been perceived that way, "this role has changed massively due to the new course of the SPD," says the designated Juso boss Jessica Rosenthal.

Nevertheless, the SPD youth does not want to be completely streamlined.

"The Jusos are by no means boring and well-behaved," promised Rosenthal.

The 28-year-old is the only candidate to succeed Kevin Kühnert at the head of the SPD youth organization.

The Jusos want to announce the result of their postal vote in Berlin on Friday.

The criticism of the Jusos at the top of the SPD was never an end in itself, stressed Rosenthal.

Rather, the youth has become an important power and shaping factor in the party.

"We want to take responsibility and shape it because we believe that now is the time to set the course," she emphasized.

The young teacher wants to run for the Bundestag herself - like around 80 lawyers from all over Germany.

"Here is a youth movement on the way to parliament," said Rosenthal.

After the 15-year Merkel era of small steps, it is now time to give courageous answers.

"For us young people, the most important point is that we finally talk about the big issues and don't just turn the next little cog."

Then social democratic politics could inspire again.

In terms of content, Rosenthal called for a training guarantee, for example - the promise that anyone with a good education could lay the foundation for their professional future.

"We need young perspectives now and we as Jusos will bring precisely these perspectives loud and clear, in parliament," she promised.

Rosenthal firmly rejected a new grand coalition.

In the past four years, the SPD policy has been watered down and thwarted.

A party is not elected for looking back, but for the future.

"That is precisely why we Jusos also demand that the SPD be courageous in terms of content," she said.

So now a decade of investments must begin.

“As a generation, we not only inherit account balances, but also broken streets and sports fields.

We can afford good swimming pools, sports fields and digitized schools, but for that we need a state that invests in our future. "

More than the Greens, the SPD wants to keep an eye on not only the climate crisis, but also the "justice crisis".

"The SPD is the only party that links both interests."

The 28-year-old teacher wants to continue the left course of her predecessor Kühnert at the Juso head.

"Every time as federal chairwoman has its challenges," she said.

«During the NoGroKo period, Kevin Kühnert was a steadfast, intelligent and objective representative of the Jusos position.

I would like to continue this style. "

In doing so, she will adhere to the principle of the SPD youth: courageously demand change - also from their own party.
