Dresden (dpa / sn) - Parents who cannot have their children looked after in crèche, kindergarten, after-school care or day care due to the current lockdown do not have to pay parental contributions.

The Saxon government made this clear on Friday.

Together with the municipal umbrella organizations, they have agreed on a uniform reimbursement of parental contributions.

However, the exemption only applies if emergency care is not used.

For the period from December 14, 2020 to January 17, a monthly fee will be reimbursed.

In the event of a further closure, the relief of the parents should continue - for a quarter of the respective monthly amount for each week.

The regulation has yet to be confirmed by the state parliament.
