Torgau (dpa / sn) - After a fire in an apartment building in Torgau, 23 people had to leave their apartments early on Friday morning.
According to the police, a candle in a man's apartment started the fire.
The 57-year-old tried in vain to extinguish the flames.
He ran to a neighbor who then alerted the emergency services.
As the smoke penetrated the hallways of the house, the building had to be evacuated.
Nobody was injured in the fire and after a short time people were allowed to go back to their homes.
The criminal police are now investigating negligent arson.
