In accordance with this decree, the (regime) of the emergency situation is extended for 15 days until the next order of the mayor, "Bowser quoted TASS as saying.
Bowser had previously announced a curfew in the city amid unrest and storming of the Capitol.
Law enforcement officials said they would detain persons violating the curfew, which began to operate in Washington from 18:00 local time (02:00 Moscow time).
It was reported that 30 people were detained in Washington for violating the curfew.
The governor of Virginia has also declared an emergency and a curfew in the state.
