“The European Regional Space Hackathon is a unique opportunity for crowdsourcing innovative technological solutions in the framework of space issues, developing a new generation of American and European space experts, and promoting cooperation between the United States and Europe in this area,” the document says.

It is assumed that students and specialists from the United States, Ukraine and at least ten other European countries will take part in the hackathon.

Authoritative experts from the USA and other countries involved in the event will be invited as mentors.

During the workshop and competition, participants as part of international teams will be engaged in solving one of the tasks related to space exploration or security in the space sector.

Questions may concern, for example, cybersecurity, the production of space rockets (including using 3D printing), the study and development of the Moon or Mars.

Participants will also have to consider problems related to space law, atmospheric monitoring, space debris, satellite design and launch, and others.

The State Department is ready to allocate up to $ 100 thousand for the organization of events. The hackathon is expected to take place in September 2021.

In November 2020, Ukraine joined the American project "Artemis" for the exploration of the moon and the construction of the Gateway station on it.
