Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's education minister Marco Tullner is keeping himself open to postpone the winter holidays.

If, with a view to the corona situation, changing lessons should be possible again for all school classes in February, it should be considered whether it would be wise to go on vacation a week later, said the CDU politician of the "Magdeburger Volksstimme" (online ).

According to the current status, there is a lot to be said for suspending the holidays in order to enable a lot of face-to-face teaching.

One-week winter holidays usually start on February 8th.

Due to the corona situation, the federal and state governments recently decided to maintain and further tighten the restrictions on public life until at least January 31.

During this time, the schools in Saxony-Anhalt will also be closed to everyone except the final classes.

Only then would it be possible, with a corresponding relaxation of the infection process, that all years, divided into groups, would again study on a daily basis, alternating at school and with tasks at home.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Education said on Thursday whether and how the holidays will actually be postponed should be decided as soon as possible.

Greens parliamentary group leader Cornelia Lüddemann has already spoken out in favor of bringing the winter holidays forward a week and starting on February 1st, but not to cancel them.

“In lockdown, learning is learned, students and parents need the break,” she wrote on Twitter.

Bavaria had recently announced that it would cancel its carnival holidays in mid-February in favor of more face-to-face classes.

Thuringia and Saxony want to move their vacation dates forward.
