Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In response to the increasing corona numbers, the contact restrictions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are being tightened again.

At a special session on Thursday, the state parliament approved the protective measures agreed between the federal and state governments with a large majority.

With the votes of the coalition factions SPD and CDU and also the opposition left, the state government was asked to implement this into state law.

The AfD described the previous and planned interventions in the civil liberties and above all in the economy as excessive and voted against the application.

The cabinet has called another MV summit for Friday in order to coordinate the further procedure with representatives of municipalities, business, science and trade unions and to update the Corona state regulation.

Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) announced “practicable” solutions, for example for meetings within families.

But she appealed to the population to forego any contact that is not absolutely necessary.

«The corona virus is currently on the move.

Nobody can give the all-clear.

On the contrary.

We have to be prepared for even more difficult weeks, ”said Schwesig.

The previous restrictions had not had the hoped-for effect and the virus mutation from Great Britain increases the risk of infection.

"We fall back on the strict contact regulations from the spring of last year, where it was always the case: everyone stays in his own household and is only allowed to meet one other person," Schwesig explained.

In addition, there will be massive restrictions on freedom of movement within 7 days in counties with more than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

There you are only allowed to move further than 15 kilometers from your home town in justified exceptional cases.

The Mecklenburg Lake District district was just below this mark on Wednesday with a value of 198.

Hope grows from the successful vaccination start in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, said Schwesig.

The vaccinations opened the way to get out of the pandemic step by step.

But even if the vaccination against Corona is carried out as quickly as possible, it will take a long time before there is sufficient immunity in the population.

But she is confident that she will be able to return to normal everyday life: “To meet up with friends, to go out to eat.

Concerts, movies, vacation trips, ”Schwesig said.

According to her, regardless of the high number of infections, the students in the final grades should be able to return to schools on Monday in order to better prepare for the exams.

The AfD renewed its criticism of the federal and state approach and described the corona protective measures as inappropriate.

«This lockdown is not a solution.

The state government's policy does not reveal any sustainable strategy at all, ”said AfD MP Horst Förster.

With the high number of infections and deaths, panic is fueled in the population in order to increase the willingness to accept the massive restrictions.

In the case of numerous corona restrictions, proportionality is not maintained.

"The closure of hotels, restaurants and retail stores is neither necessary nor proportionate," said Förster.

Schwesig admitted that the closings ordered to reduce the number of contacts were difficult to cope with for the affected industries, but referred to the financial aid from the state.

In the previous year, 348 million euros in emergency aid were paid out in the northeast.

For the coming week, the head of government announced a meeting with representatives from business to discuss how to proceed.

Despite criticism, the left supported the government's plans in detail.

An energetic lockdown is necessary, but must be carried out in solidarity and social, said MP Torsten Koplin.

He called for family-friendly solutions when implementing the contact limits.

CDU parliamentary group leader Wolfgang Waldmüller also underlined the need to further restrict contacts.

This is currently the only way to reduce the risk of infection as quickly as possible and to get back below the incidence value of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within 7 days.

A large part of the transmissions take place without those affected being aware of their own infection.
