Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - In the Mecklenburg Lake District district, stricter exit restrictions apply from January 8th.

The district stipulated this in a general decree on Thursday evening.

Accordingly, citizens are only allowed to leave their homes between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following day under very specific conditions.

These include trips to work, school visits, participation in necessary events by the state government, certain hunting missions such as against African swine fever and other issues that cannot be postponed.

The background to this is that on Thursday, for the first time in the northeast, the benchmark value of 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants was exceeded in 7 days on the sparsely populated lake district.

The so-called 7-day incidence there is now 220.9.

The region is therefore considered to be a high risk area.

Further restrictions would be examined in the next few days.
