He points out that it is primarily the travelers' own responsibility to wear mouth guards in public transport.

In at least one place in Kalmar, it should be possible to get a mouth guard in exchange for being able to show that you are paying for your trip.

Mouthguards must also be available in places where you can buy a travel document.

- If a person goes on a bus or a train without a mouth guard, we will not take any action, says Christer Holmgren.

Does not provide protection when boarding

Länstrafiken Kronoberg wants to try to find an opportunity to distribute or sell mouth guards at customer centers in Växjö, upon presentation of a valid ticket.

But traffic director Tomas Nilsson points out that it is already possible to procure mouth guards around Kronoberg.

Handing out mouth guards on buses and trains is not an option:

- It could mean a risk of spreading the infection, he says.

The oral protection recommendation has been issued by the Swedish Public Health Agency to try to reduce the spread of covid-19 and will take effect on Thursday 7 January.

The recommendation applies during the times when many people travel: 7 - 9 and 16 - 18 on weekdays.
