US sources confirmed that two bombers were sent to the Gulf region as part of a new mission to deter Iran, while the second phase of the naval mobilization maneuvers of the Revolutionary Guard forces in southern Iran was launched.

Fox News reported that two strategic bombers, "B-52" (B-52), headed from a base in North Dakota to the Gulf region as part of a new mission to deter Iran.

The network stated that this is the fourth mission of its kind in two months for these aircraft.

On the other hand, the Iranian News Agency said that the second stage of the naval mobilization maneuvers in the fourth area of the Revolutionary Guard Navy began in the Asalwiya area of Bushehr Governorate (south), in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief of the Revolutionary Guards Hussein Salami and the head of the Guard Navy, Ali Reza Tangsiri.

The maneuver - which was launched on the occasion of the week honoring the resistance martyrs - includes more than 700 light and heavy naval vessels.

Major General Salami stressed that the exercise constituted an honorable show and an embodiment of the harmony between Sunni and Shiite citizens in protecting the country's defensive objectives, he said.

He added that the main message of the exercise is that the Iranian armed forces and people are always ready to defend the fateful interests and borders of Iran.

Iran had previously announced that it would start Tuesday, wide exercises, including drones and anti-aircraft weapons.

These developments come in light of the increase in tensions over the past days between Iran and the United States, and mutual warnings of its slide into a security escalation during the remaining few weeks for Republican President Donald Trump in power.
