Hanover / Göttingen (dpa / lni) - Lower Saxony's university hospitals have started vaccinating their employees against Covid-19.

At the Hannover Medical School (MHH) and the Göttingen University Medical Center (UMG), the first employees received the injection on Thursday.

First of all, employees who deal with Covid 19 patients - for example in the intensive care units or in the emergency room - were vaccinated.

Both clinics reminded that the vaccinated must continue to strictly adhere to the hygiene measures.

“The first vaccination offers very little protection.

In addition, we do not currently know whether vaccinated people can spread the virus further - there are still no studies on this, ”said the acting Vice President of the MHH, Tobias Welte.

At the MHH, around 50 employees were initially vaccinated, the UMG expected 20 to 50 vaccinations for the first day. The vaccination doses were only delivered on Wednesday.
