The plan is for Moderna's vaccine against covid-19 to be approved on Wednesday, according to Sweden's vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström.

Sweden has an agreement for a total of 3.6 million doses from Moderna, a vaccine that is enough for 1.8 million people.

Subject to approval, Sweden will receive 11,000 doses from Moderna next week.

On Sunday and Monday, 80,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were delivered to the regions.

Thus, a total of 100,000 vaccine doses, from both Moderna and Pfizer, are expected to Sweden during week 2, if all goes well.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) must approve Moderna's vaccine against covid-19.

If approved, it is then up to the European Commission to give the green light, a message that is expected to go quickly.

- It took two hours last time, Richard Bergström told TT on Tuesday.
