According to Reuters, the French military said on January 5 local time that they had launched an air strike in the Mopti region of central Mali, killing dozens of extremist militants.

However, local villagers said that it was the wedding scene that was attacked by air strikes, killing at least 20 people.

　　The French military launched the "Crescent Dune" operation in the Sahel region in August 2014 to combat terrorist and extremist organizations. There are currently approximately 5,100 troops stationed.
