Kiel (dpa / lno) - Due to the planned extension of the lockdown until the end of January, Schleswig-Holstein will reimburse parents for the January fees for the daycare.

"The protection of children continues to have the highest priority," said Minister of Social Affairs Heiner Garg (FDP) on Wednesday.

"So, of course, parents and children who are particularly stressed with the existing child, youth and family aid offers will continue to be supported."

The federal and state governments agreed on Tuesday evening to extend the lockdown until the end of January.

That is why daycare centers are still not allowed in the north.

There is only emergency care for children, of which at least one parent works in the critical infrastructure, said Garg.

The offer is also aimed at single parents who work, as well as children with increased care and support requirements and those who are particularly worthy of protection from the point of view of the child's well-being.

In the north, parents are exempted from childcare contributions throughout January.

The state bears the cost of the parental contributions regardless of whether the parents have to look after their child at home or have to take emergency care in an institution.

This also applies to the area of child day care.

The state government wants to proceed similar to the first lockdown last spring.

The details still have to be clarified with the municipal state associations and with the sponsoring associations.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the country is providing a total of around 25 million to relieve parents.

This sum also includes the reimbursement of contributions for all-day care at schools in January.

The state bears these costs as well.
