Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Saxons have to be prepared for a tough January.

The lockdown imposed due to the corona pandemic will be extended until the end of the month, daycare centers and schools will largely remain closed, and contact restrictions are to be tightened.

The government wants to set details for the new Corona Protection Ordinance in the next few days.

The current rules apply until January 10th.

At the end of the week, the cabinet will then adopt the new state ordinance.

This should be based on the decisions of the federal and state governments after video consultations with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU).

Among other things, there should be restrictions on private meetings: if five people from two households were previously allowed to come together, this should only be allowed for one household and one additional person in the future.

In order to catch up on subject matter after the lockdown, the winter holidays are to be brought forward to February 1st and shortened to one week.

Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) defended the corona measures as burdensome but necessary on Tuesday evening.

«There is no reason to give the all-clear.

We are in the most difficult and toughest moments of the pandemic. "

Meanwhile, Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) announced that the vaccination centers should open in the next week.

You can book an appointment from Monday via a booking portal.

An appointment can only be made by those who are at the top of the list of priorities - for example outpatient care and rescue services, residents of nursing homes or people over 80.

From the middle of next week there will also be an activated telephone number.

Köpping emphasized that only a few doses were initially only available in the centers.

According to Köpping, Saxony currently has 68,000 vaccine doses in stock.

Since the hospitals are in a particularly dramatic situation, 38,000 doses are being given there.

30,000 doses would go to mobile vaccination teams.

However, only half of them are vaccinated because the other doses are needed for the second vaccination.

"As soon as we have more vaccines, we can also vaccinate more."
